	Caption[7]='<i>A Guide to Revolution</i> is the centerfold spread for the 1st annual CalArts Comic book, Comicalarts. Meant as a teaching aid, the piece gives a brief history of revolution, both violent and peaceful. It brings together the minds of many great revolutionaries that saw a need for change and acted upon their beliefs.  The paradoxical nature of revolution means that a change can come with a peace sign, an ak-47, or a new theory on time.';

	Caption[8]='Hand printed cover design for the 1st annual Calarts comic. A new class was formed in 2006 entitled <i>Graphic Short Story</i>, which taught the history and techniques of comic book design. Each student did three or four pages in the 35-page book, as well as a drawing for the cover. The comic was printed in full color and made in an edition of twenty. ';

	Caption[9]='This was an edition of fifteen custom scrabble tile sets that were given to friends and family; each individual tile was painstakingly cut using a band saw and hand-sanded. This design is a prototype for a larger series in which I will print both boards and tiles.';

Throughout the world, communities are becoming run down and are magnets for unemployment, violence, and homelessness. My goal was to show that, despite the ugliness of a situation, beauty can be found in anything. Through an interesting color palette and composition, the pieces create a comic book style with an optimistic tone. See the world through filtered eyes.';

	Caption[27]='Vivometrics is a small Santa Barbara based company that specializes in ambulatory monitoring for both people and animals.  The design of the product consists of an inner vest with unobtrusive heart rate, temperature, and pulse monitors, and an outer protective jacket.  The illustrations were contracted for use in the company\'s brochures and instructional resource material.';

	Caption[28]='This poster is based on the works of Japanese painter Hokusai.  I created the piece for Los Angeles based musician Ken Christianson, who goes by the stage name K E N.  He is very interested in Asian culture and really is really huge in Japan.';

	Caption[29]='This is the design for the Calarts 2007 graduation DVD.  The DVD includes several works from graduating BFA experimental animators.  The piece is a multi-layered digital collage that takes imagery from Chinese printmaking, temples, and pattens.  The text says \"Film moving at the speed of beauty\".';

	Caption[30]='These boards are a gift to all the friends and family that have inspired me throughout the years.  Printed in an edition of 48, these boards take a game that everyone owns and stylize it.  When gifted, the boards also included silkscreened tiles and a bag.';

	Caption[32]='This poster was created for director Hyperdyne Miller, whose full-length feature animated film premiered at Calarts in 2007.  The director supplied film footage and an alien language that he developed for the film.  The poster was designed so that it could be split in half vertically and each side displayed separately.';
